Shape & Aesthetic:
The Red Bape Hoodie is made of heavy cotton fleece which does not change its structure after various wears. When it is not zipped up, the hood completely reveals the side-profile Shark embroidery and the WGM (World Gone Mad) varsity patches. Tightly knit ribbing on the cuffs and waistband so that it does not have to be pulled in and so it can be brought to a sharp, tapered fit.
Care & Authenticity:
Wash inside out in a cold, gentle cycle to ensure that the screen prints are not damaged. Hang dry; dryers will destroy the graphics and shrink the cotton fibers on the shark. There are authenticated marks such as the gold foil ape head tag that was sewn into the cuff of the sleeve and the metal zipper pull with the “BAPE” engraving.
The hood features a deep, oversized construction designed to zip completely over the face. It provides ample room for larger head sizes or for wearing over a beanie without feeling restrictive.
This is a standard hooded sweatshirt and does not include a structured brim or internal wires. The heavy fleece material allows the hood to sit forward on the forehead to mimic a structured look.
The heavyweight 100% cotton fleece has high stretch-recovery properties. While the fabric softens with age, the reinforced seams and dense knit prevent the torso and hood from losing their original boxy shape.
